The SoundBrewer Oberheim Matrix-6 :: Volume 1 sample collection contains 50 extensively multi-sampled
sounds [factory patches 00-49]. All of the samples have been professionally recorded, edited, and looped to fully emulate the sound of the original keyboard. These samples are available in GigaStudio (.gig) or SoundFont (.sf2) format, and are available as a download or on a disc.
The Matrix 6, released in 1985, was one of the last few synthesizers that Oberheim produced. It utilized high-tech digital and MIDI features and still retained a totally analog sound. It did this by using DCOs (digitally controlled oscillators) to provide stability, programmability and more. Like all Oberheim synths the Matrix-6's filters have a great warm, organic quality.
This keyboard excels at complex pads, textures, ambient sounds and fat bass lines. But it is probably best know for its string sounds, especially the famous OB-strings patch.
