The Korg M1 was one of the first synthesizers (together with the Roland D-50) to use PCM samples to create its sounds…and the sounds it made are now classics. The M1 is clear, vibrant and very acoustic sounding. Many of the sounds have been prominently used in a large number of pop, rock and dance hits. The sounds have also been used in a large, diverse amount of TV ads and movie soundtracks.
The Korg M1 sounds are instantly recognizable. The keyboard is known for its e-piano and its tight and expressive drums (which are both now dance classics). In addition, the keyboard has a classic sax sound, new age and atmospheric sounds (such as the swirling and impressive "Universe" patch), and many easily recognizable percussive sounds, such as the "Pole" (which really sounds like a metal pole being struck).
