SoundBrewer :: How to load DXi Instruments and Plugins in Cakewalk Sonar

How to load DXi's and Samples in Cakewalk Sonar

This will use rgc:audio's free sample player SFZ as an example DXi plugin. Cick here to view a tutorial on how to use the SFZ sample player.

1. If you have purchased Instantly Downloaded sounds from SoundBrewer you will want to first unzip the files and copy them to your hard drive. (We suggest you create a directory like “c:\SoundBrewer Samples”, although you can create any directory, or unzip the files to your desktop.)

If you have purchased a sample disc you can load the sounds directly off of the disc, or copy them to your hard drive.

1. Click the 'Insert DXi button. This will open the DXi window.

2. Click the '+' button and select the DXi that you want to load.

3. The 'Insert DXi Synth Options' box will appear. Select 'MIDI Source Track' and "First Synth Output [Audio].

4. Sonar will insert a MIDI track, and an Audio track for the DXi that you have loaded. It will automatically set the correct outputs for your Dxi. If you have your MIDI controller set to Omni, you can highlight the MIDI track associated with the DXi that you want to trigger, and you will hear it when play. You can also enter MIDI data to trigger the DXi.

5. Your DXi is now loaded. You can repeat the above steps to install more DXi instruments. You can click on the specific DXi in the DXi window.

To purchase Sample CD's or instantly download samples of guitars, drums, synths, and ethnic instruments visit the SoundBrewer online store.
